Note Taker App Reviews

Love it

The interface is a little tricky but well worth the effort of getting to know. I find myself using this app more and more everyday. I used the Grandfather to the iPod (Newton MessagePad) years ago and loved it. To be able to write on the screen again is like comin home. Well Done.

Well thought out design and implementation!

After using the free sample of this app, I immediately had to purchase it. Ive tried many hand recognition apps on both the iPhone and iPad. This is an excellent app when you need to quickly jot down a note, save it, email it, etc. The handwriting recognition is a bit slower than some apps, but the additional features (there are many!) far outweigh a minuscule delay. The negative comments left seem to be made by people who werent willing to use the tutorials (which are well written) or their expectations were outside of the apps intended purpose.

I SAID GOODBYE TO 3x5s!

Ive run my life by 3x5s for years-addresses, websites, birthdays, budget cards in my wallet, card n pen in my pocket at all times. Wanted to go techy buy couldnt deal with 3x5 withdrawal insecurity. Then I found this app! My beloved 3x5s on my touch. NEEDS: colored ink or colored highliter and agree with other reviewer ability to choose ink or type on start-up. ADVICE: take the tutorials and watch the videos to see everything this app can do!

Exactly what I needed

In my job I take notes that are used during a debriefing period after the training or checking event. I have gone paperless thanks to this app. This app is perfect to take notes with. Great scheme. There is a learning curve and a fair amount of practice needed to master the app. I found the tutorials nice and after a day or so of experimenting, using it comes easy. Very well engineered. It has never crashed and seems very stable on the iPhone 4.

Great App - needs another way to send notes

This is an awesome app. I use it all the time, including at work. One thing that would be handy is to have this linked to a Handwriting recognition app like Evernote. Instead of emailing PDF files to Evernote, if we could just click on something like Submit to Evernote - that would be great! Otherwise an awesome app - I even use the iPad version if the App.

Good balance

This app has a great balance between feature-richness and simplicity. This makes it useful for note taking, as its name implies. Its easy to get used to writing with it and note taking is quick and easy. I think this apps greatest strength is its fidelity to the experience of taking simple notes on a 3x5 card. Those who I see complaining about it not being essentially an image editor either need to just find a different app or are possibly missing the point. Note Taker has good design values and does its intended job well.

It actually works and its only going to get better.

Makes me want a stylus for my iPhone.

Best quick note app

This is a great piece of software! I can get a lot of info on one page. It is easy to use but has some very sophisticated features. I just deleted Jotter which I used for quick notes and lists. Note takers best feature is that you use the whole screen to write, not just the bottom of the screen. (If you want to use handwriting but have it converted to text, try 7notes Premium. I used it to write this review.)

Very Well Done.

Easy to learn, great tutorial. Love this app for map drawing and such- will gladly get the full version now. Worth the money.

Needs a few things to be great

I used this app a lot a few years back, and I really liked the ability to write personal notes, draw things if needed, and stuff addendums parenthetically in between the lines. None of this is as easy on typed apps where the notes all look the same (unless you leave lots of white space). Overall the Note Taker notes end up charming and personal, even if writing them is slower than typing. A while back the app became slow to start up on my 3Gs so I abandoned it for a while. Now I have iPhone 4 so this app is faster and takes far less battery life to use (can keep it open and take notes in meetings for 3 hours and only use up 20% of my battery, whereas that would use up >50% on the 3GS... Hmmm iphone 4 really is a lot better. Perhaps I also should get a new car!). Now that I am using it again, there are a few gripes-- nothing major -- (1) The update was an improvement but no updates since 2010?? While writing, there is now a lag if you write too fast, and it registers your finger when you are already half way through a letter, so you sometimes have to re-write a few letters. Forces you to slow down, not necessarily bad, but probably needs optimization for the current iOS. (2) It would be nice if instead of a single note card for each note, you could just keep writing and the app would just take you to the next page (ie, please let us write on the "back" of the card). (3) Sometimes i like to write on picture or at least attach a picture to the note. This would also be nice if we were to email someone a note -- attaching a picture would allow us to turn it into a postcard. There are postcard apps out there but I dont know one that lets us write like a real postcard the way this one does. Dan Bricklin I hope you do these few requests. If you can, i guarantee to gift this app to all my friends. Well maybe not all... that would cost me like $150. Ok fine, Ill send it to ALL of them! Are you working on something else? Please dont say you have retired!

Great program for the iPhone

I tried three notetaking programs for the iPhone - Evernote, myScript memo and Notetaker. They each do different things well. Evernote is a good note organizing program. MyScript does OCR. This program is the fastest and most effective way to get record a note on your iPhone. I highly recommend Notetaker but also strongly recommend you go though the tutorials.

Great app!

Would like to see it updated for the iPhone 5.

Not as good as the HD version

After using the HD version on my ipad which I loved, this one looks like a toy

Works but needs to be updated for iPhone 6 (and 5!)

Layout is still iPhone 4-Esque.

Great, but...

I have note taker HD for my iPad. With the advent of the iPhone 6 Plus, it makes all the sense in the world to give iPhone the ability to take full page notes just like the iPad. I really hope that will roll out soon in another version of one of these apps.

Needs to be updated

This App in the iPad HD version is great, but in the new iPhone 6 and 6 plus It look terrible. The UI is bad looking for the new iOS 7-8. Please fix this issues.

Help section glitch

Seems like it would be a good app if I could read the directions on how to use it. I have a 6+ and the help section is all jumbled up. Please fix so I can see the directions.

Cant delete pages

Whenever I try to delete a page, the program just freezes. Please fix the bug. I an using iOS 9. Other functions are good. Well made.

Cannot delete pages

Love the app but it wont let me delete pages in my iPhone 6.
